Whether you want to improve your relationship with your children, make a shift in how you parent, or just learn to feel more at peace with the parenting journey, I’m here to support you in this process.
My orientation is toward an ethic of radical inclusion & acceptance. My approach in all that I do is compassion-focused, with a nonviolent and trauma-informed lens. What I offer:
Parenthood Exploration Workshops
This is a community-focused hybrid offering, falling somewhere between support group and workshop. At each session, you’ll be invited to reflect on a specific topic, and together we’ll explore feelings, expectations, perceptions, limitations, fears, vulnerabilities, or whatever comes up for you within a container of safety, acceptance, and compassion, guided by up-to-date knowledge of relevant research on human needs and development.
We will rotate through many topics, such as these examples below and many others!
Fostering Radical Inclusion From the Beginning
Aligning Parenting Goals with Outcomes
The Depletion of Parenthood: Doing The Work of 4 People
Feelings as Status Reports on Needs
Teaching Children Our Values Without Shame or Coercion
Who You Are is What You Teach
Re-calibrating Our Expectations of Our Children: Improving Our Bond, Reducing Anxiety & Shame
The Role of Adults in Children’s Play
Radical Acceptance of Feelings
Listening Deeply to Our Children’s Needs
Becoming the Person Your Children Need: Why It Must Be You (Not Peers)
Leaning into Our “Mistakes” as Opportunities to Model Grace
Leaving Behind Rewards & Punishments: Shifting to a Collaborative Approach that Models Respect for All
Grief Rituals
I follow in the footsteps of Francis Weller in accepting the importance of grief rituals as “core soul hygiene”. He says it is grief that allows our hearts to remain open to love, that it is “only when we deny grief's entry into our lives that we begin to compress the breadth of our emotional experience and live shallowly.”
Grief rituals are small, in-person gatherings (roughly 8-12 people) that last for several hours and take us deep into our shared vulnerability in a safe space. On the day you participate in a grief ritual, it’s best to reserve the day exclusively for the ritual.
